Practical Infos

Located at the heart French-speaking Switzerland, in the north-west of the country, Neuchâtel (45,000 inhabitants) is a lovely medieval city surrounded by gorgeous natural sites.


Neuchâtel can be easily accessed from any of Switzerland’s three main airports.

  • From Geneva airport: trains departing every hour and connecting Neuchâtel in about 80 min, tickets from 48 CHF.
  • From Zurich airport: three trains departing every hour and connecting Neuchâtel in about 110 min, tickets from 59 CHF.
  • From Basel airport: two trains departing every hour and connecting Neuchâtel in about 120 min, tickets from 47 CHF.

In addition, a limited number of affordable accommodations have been pre-booked:

  • Cercle de la Voile (44 places). 17 CHF/night. Collective dormitories. Guests bring their own sleeping bag.
  • Rooms at Tour des Cadolles (11 places) and Foyer des Sablons (4 places). 191 CHF from July 17 to 21 (47.85 CHF/night). Student rooms arranged for shared occupancy around a common kitchen and bathroom/toilet. Please note that beds and cleaning will not be done every day.

The congress will be held in the buildings of the Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines (espace Tilo-Frey 1), ideally located next to Lake Neuchâtel.

The train station and the city center are easily accessible on foot or by public transport from the conference site.

The surrounding area is very well served by public transportation (schedule, tickets and special offers on and Bicycles can be rented online at dozens of stations along the lake.

Most hotels in the region offer the Neuchâtel Tourist Card which allows free use of public transport.


The rooms are equipped with a projector and a computer running Windows 10. It is also possible to connect your own computer (video connection via HDMI, some HDMI to USB-C adapters will be available).


The University of Neuchâtel offers free access to the Internet via the public wifi network "public-unine" (a valid mobile phone number is required). The University is also part of the eduroam network.

Each day, a simple lunch is served directly at the conference site (outside or inside, depending on the weather).

The conference dinner will be held at the Hotel DuPeyrou and will take the form of a cocktail reception ("apéritif dinatoire").

Vegetarian and vegan options are available in both cases.


The Faculté des Lettres et Sciences Humaines where the congress is held is located a few meters from the public beach of les Jeunes-Rives. Don't hesitate to take your bathing gear and enjoy the lake to cool down during the summer heat.
